  1. Totally Chris, I couldn't agree more, 3rd party development drives innovation within X-Plane......That is what I like about the platform. Well I got the info out there and now it is time to finish this product.... Here is another one at dusk showing how normal maps help with shadows. The new normals are more subtle but have more of an impact then you may realize.... And for Tom, I have cut down the color saturation in the glacier textures and cut down the intensity of the normal maps. The textures now follow the slope of the mountain as well.....I love it, still different from the surrounding textures but it seems more in context with the overall scene....THANKS! And under the right lighting conditions the glaciers still maintain an "icy" appearance.... WinterMAXX is really starting to become more than I imagined it could be....super duper excited about it
  2. I will knock down the saturation a tad, I am using a bit of artistic license to differentiate the glaciers. Not 100% realistic but trying to provide a visual treat to the end user. But I agree, I will find a good balance through trial and error.....
  3. Another one for today, still updating terrain textures and played around with an updated set of glacier textures seen below:
  4. I havent looked into it yet Mario, but yes I hope to make these textures as automatic as possible at some point. Right now the huge amount of texturing required has me locked into just getting them done. I have looked at simple seasons and it seems to be a fantastic add-on but will it replace coastlines and trees? Thanks Colin, Im trying
  5. Andras again thanks for your input, tonight I am going to tackle that Tom thank you too, after I get the base scenery down I will fine tune everything....but yes the community input here got this package moving in the right direction....
  6. Last one for tonight:
  7. BTW BOLD(A13) is a cool airport in Alaska to mess around at...... Hey Peter ?!?!?!?
  8. OK I have made some adjustments and used Alpilotx's winter trees to boot. Normal maps have been toned down a bunch and I reworked a bunch of textures. Thanks guys for the input, sometimes I can get a little snow blind hehe....
  9. To be fair there are a few textures with a slight green tint. Also Tom I am fixing that greyness to the textures as we speak....
  10. Tom I think that green you are seeing may be the trees, they havent been optomized yet and I may just provide a link to alpioltx's trees when all is said and done. Working with normals now, still trying to find a good balance. I will have some SS's to show tonight.....
  11. initially will be manual but maybe at some point ill develop a loader.....
  12. OK here are my latest SS's, I toned the normals down a bunch and integrated GlacierMAXX and BeachMAXX(which will be refined prior to release).... And a shot of the winter beaches.....these will be refined a bunch prior to release, maybe some ice flows or something : Cool thing with using normals is how much better the shadowing is, good example is this pic below look how the mountains seem to have more detail: I am not finished with the refining of this add-on, but I feel I am moving in the right direction, whatca think? Oh almost forgot a pic, this one shows some trees, X-Plane default but prior to release they will be custom:
  13. Yeah I agree with the normals also. Thanks for the input guys I think they need to be less intense..... As far as the southeast is concerned, lets see what I can come up with
  14. Hey all, Took a bit of a break to refresh and start focused and motivated. Here is my latest image of WinterMAXX, about 97% done with the Pacific Northwest. Whatcha think?
  15. Wild! In a literal sense hehe... Zymurg I cannot say this is going to be done anytime soon....This project is going to be very involved, fortunately I have Kyle Sanders to help with some of the administrative stuff that Maxx-XP generates. I promise to get this add-on out for public consumption but I am afraid it isnt going to be anytime soon...
  16. Its a strong possibility Ill get this out the door, but it will be a long process....This is just a small set of textures I developed by reading a DSF.....I want to enhance it even more with normal mapping, roads and coastlines..... Autumn first since this is a simpler addition then onto Winter....
  17. I wanted to sart messing with winter to see if it were possible:
  18. Still working on Autumn textures, seems the autogen will need to be slightly modified since it has its own trees.....Also UM will need a slight upgrade to make the urban areas seem more fall like:
  19. Not a seasonal plugin, just Autumn trees.......Texture enhancement is a better label....
  20. I think the difference was the ability to change the size of the cloud puffs.......Which disappeared during a later release..... I have some nice cloud textures sitting on my computer which will be released for SkyMAXX Extreme but to be honest, they don't present the look I was trying to achieve....
  21. Totally wish we had X-Plane 9 type clouds in 10 ....lol
  22. Thanks Colin, Yeah there are times when that "blood sky" pops up in real life..... Next step will be to get the clouds to reflect color better for more depth and realism....
  23. Sorry John but it is going to be a manual install to start.......
