  1. I love the 330s' belly. It's so cute I just want to cuddle it.
  2. On a related note, almost 70% of interviewees claimed to be smarter than average. Illusory superiority at its finest.
  3. Nice! Seems like you can crank up the rendering settings even more.
  4. I am a little confused, your tablet FMS crashes? Surely you could work around it by using in game FMS, or am I missing something that "stops you from flying this plane"? Probably fill a support ticket on the X-Aviation site, elaborating the issue. I heard Cameron love those.
  5. I was actually thinking about it, but screenshots on X-Plane store kind of put me off. While the ones on the review are rather very appealing. So confused
  6. Now, now. You just make me crave a good seaplane for X-Plane
  7. Actually, I am only using HD meshes from alpilotx.net.
  8. De-dusting DC-3 and flying around Sweden.
  9. Myair, after looking at couple of your screenshots, I just feel obligated to ask about your addons/settings to make X-Plane look that good
  10. I would assume it's DCS World, not X-Plane.
  11. I know that Q400s, ATRs and Saab 340s can, and sometimes do, feather one engine during taxi phases. It usually saves few minutes of fuel per leg, which is irrelevant per plane, but if you multiply it by number of all planes in the fleet per year, it can save you quite a bit of money from the airline perspective. I wouldn't say it's really that common though, especially that such procedure is heavily restricted by weather, runaway contamination and so on.
  12. Really? I have been in the cockpit for few night takeoffs and I would say it's pretty spot on, especially for darker (less floodlit) airports (I am speaking to you EGKK!). It's literally one (or two) shaft of light that illuminates just 2 meters of the runaway ahead. I think it looks pretty realistic.
  13. I guess the purpose of the video was to show-off sound, not the correct take off procedure And oh my, it sounds absolutely realistic!
  14. So, I have had similar conversation when I was buying a machine being able to run X-Plane comfortably but still is on a budget. I was talking to someone I trust with those things as I am not really a tech aficionado. As far as I know, decent tier i5 CPU is more than enough. You won't get any noticeable performance boost by overkilling it with an i7. That would save you quite a bit of money. Unless you want to stream, I suppose. Nvidia 970/980 with 4gb memory should serve you well for quite a bit of time, there are some topics of people getting Titans only to be disappointed with the result. It appears to have little to none impact on 1080p and I don't now how to excuse paying over TRIPLE of what you would normally pay. When it comes to RAM, it's always useful. 16Gb is optimal.
  15. Performance hit due to increase in loading scenery. Especially if you run HD/UHD meshes.
  16. BIKF (Keflavik) - EGCC (Manchester). Route should produce some delicious screenshots
  17. Cargo is usually more demanding experience-wise than airlines. Most pilots start their careers as regional pilots anyway. As for the course from zero to ATPL alone, the costs really varies, depending where you take it. In my country it's around 45,000 USD including Instructor License and 737 type ratings. One thing to make sure is to not just look at the prices, but the reputation of the flightschools.
  18. The current state of the "business" will guarantee you something opposite of job. Airlines are very hesitant to hire someone will low hours count, so you need to get those. How? Now, this is the fun part. You might fly charter flights... for free. Literally, the current state of the market allows small airlines or charters to hire pilots for free, offering them an opportunity to gain experience. Also, the pay is outrageously bad for new hires. It isn't unheard of active, inexperienced airline pilots to live on food stamps. Work long hours and be paid for less than they actually did. And that is if you actually find a job. Another pretty common thing is licensed pilots being forced to work as FA, on ramps and so on, becuse they simply don't get the call back. The most blooming aviation area is China, which requires crazy amount of pilots. But... experienced pilots. Probably not going to get a job there is you have less than 3,000 hours on the type you apply for. Now, I assume you have no license whatsoever, Getting from Zero to ATP(L) (which will be frozen regardless, as you need 1,000 as PIC for it to be valid iirc) takes in express mode around 1,5-2 yeras. So you would need to take that into the account. Now, as I think it's enough of the negative nancy, if you have patience, have the financial stability, and you know that is a huge risk... go for it. The legal retirement age for pilots is 65 years old (60 for some airlines), with possibility of it being 67 in the future. So, given everything would go good for you, you would still have plenty of time to surf the clouds. By the time you get your license, the situation on the market can be totally different anyway, as the main reason it is so unwelcoming is the economic crysis we had few years back.
  19. To be honest, I will stick to SkyMaxx, as to me the clouds look much more realistic

    Real Weather Connector Announced

Sundog Software and X-Aviation have announced work on 'Real Weather Connector', a product to work with SkyMaxx Pro v3. Real Weather Connector will enhance and alter the way weather is generated for X-Plane. Real Weather Connector will be released as its own product, but it will require SkyMaxx Pro v3 to work, utilizing downloaded weather data and generate clouds in their actual locations. To read more about the product, and follow Sundog's development, visit X-Pilot's forum thread.
  21. As Cameron stated, the Connector will be its own product but it will need SkyMaxx.
  22. As far as I understood, the plugin would get the real data for the entire grid at once, not just for the area around the airplane as I know NOAA does (I assume FSGRW too). That would address the issue of visible and very noticeable cloud popping, changing forms or magically adding a layer right in front of your eyes. That would hugely improve the immersion and the general quality of flying and it's something that X-Plane users wanted for months (years?).
  23. Quite a random question, but have you guys decided on the interior design or is it too early in the development to say? I think it S550 comes in variety of setups up to 8 passengers seats.
