  1. For the record, At home I have a humble Mac mini 2012 edition with 8gb ram and whatever graphics chip comes shipped as standard I run uk photo realistic scenery, several libraries, my own club airfield modelled in 3d and being careful with rendering setting and screen resolution can achieve 30fps with 10.41

My advice - start low and work up.

Added later. Must own up to the fact I'm not flying heavy metal, but I do fly low level in a glider but even so I can get 27fps with the default Cessna

  2. In real life, cumulus are formed at the dew point when moisture in the rising bubble of hot air (the the thermal) cools and forms tiny water droplets. The cu start off small and wispy and end up large with flat bottoms (actually slightly concave) before dissipating as the last of the thermal bubble reaches the dew point.

I know XP doesn't yet push out the correct data. the thermal position don't match the Cu positions. In 10.50 should. But sun dog should get ahead of the game imho by drawing Cu where XP says the thermals are.

Remember, in real life Cu's CANNOT EXIST without the moist rising hot air needed to feed them

  3. Are you the same RocketRod who is an AwareIm developer?. Seriously the reason for my post is my club recently swapped a first gen board (not compatible with Win 8) for one from leobodnar. It was a piece of cake. Spring loaded terminals means not only no soldering, also no screwdriver required

  4. posting this in two places before I file a bug report - just in case there's a switch or dataref I've missed.

After saving a situation which naturally has wind direction, speed vis, cloud layers etc, when I come back and load it (after flying somewhere else with different parameters,) the weather does not auto regenerate. I have to go into "weather" and click the "regenerate now" button. Which kinda defeats the object of having a simple one click situation setup.

Posting in two places because I have skymaxx pro2, so not sure if the problem is LR, X-AViation or mine

  5. Hey Mat, if you want a beta tester ...... I really think with a little effort from LR, SM and some plane designers, x-plane could become the standard for gliding. I just get the feeling Austin doesn't understand what a big marketplace he's missing out on. It's so near yet so far. I've got a guy (student aero engineer) at our club getting to grips with plane maker. Let's keep in touch

  6. Does this mean that even after activation, skymaxx will check on the web every time x-plane is fired up? I am putting SM on a simulator which apart from the occasional software update will NOT have Internet access. Hope I haven't wasted my money

  7. Not had chance to get up high enough in my glider yet, but here's a video taken by a glider pilot flying in wave above some lenticulars ( you can see the high cirrus above)

Would love to get this quality in the product.

  8. If they a cumulus, they DO have flat bottoms if they are being fed by a thermal. In fact when you get underneath, they are slightly indented. As a glider pilot we often get up into what we call the bell of the cloud. But when approaching or from a distance they look flat.

Sundog, please don't change the CU's they look great.
