  1. Hello, Pilots!,

This is a quick note to say that as of today we have surpassed 10,000 registered members here at X-Pilot, and we sincerely appreciate everyone's participation in this community to make it as fun and welcoming as it is!

We have watched our viewership and registration counts sharply increase over the last several months and we think this is a sign of great times ahead for X-Plane and all those in the community.

Thanks to all of you who keep this place going. We certainly appreciate it! :)

  2. Hello, Pilots!,

We have just gone through a forum upgrade with a few changes to the style sheets. In order to take advantage of the new changes many of you will likely need to clear the cache in your web browser. The most noticeable change would be if you are quoting someone in a thread. For many, without a clearing of the cache since this update the quote will look broken in your reply.

We apologize for this slight inconvenience.

  3. Finally somewhere to go other than you know where!

Thank you for the support, Graham!

    Highly welcomed news!! Danke'

We're happy you think so, Phantom88!

This is what really will change the game. Having quality downloads will drastically increase viewers on x-pilot (I would think) and will provide an excellent alternative - choice is always nice to have :)

    Yes, we do agree!

This is a great day for X-Aviation and the X-plane community indeed. Now that X-plane is finally getting some much deserved attention in the flight simulation category, it deserves to have a website run by courteous and professional people to support it like X-Pilot. The megalomaniacs who run that "other" X-plane site can kiss-off. That other place is outmoded, unfriendly, and unprofessional. It has been a hindrance to the growth of X-plane into the mainstream. X-aviation is a great company which offers some of the very best add-ons for X-plane available today as well as having great customer service and support. With the other place, I feel like I have to constantly slog through the forums on everything that I've purchased to see if anything has been updated or fixed.

With downloads available on here now, I hope to see a large migration of traffic come over from the other site as well as new comers to X-plane coming here first instead. Austin should change the Laminar site to direct people here instead of that other filthy rotten ORGanization.

On behalf of the staff here at X-Pilot, and those involved in development and support from X-Aviation, we thank you for supporting us, J_Will!

Great news, my next project is dedicated to this site from now on... Just promise, x-pilot admin, that you won't overstress the rules and regulations that restrict so many good people on the other side. I feel very privileged to be able to be part of this wonderful new addition!

    We promise!

    X-pilot rocks!!!

Edit: please accept plane maker designed aircraft that have a good homemade feel, the little developer still needs a chance to share without being harshly put down... Based on the nature of other community I'd say there needs to be a change. I do like your quality approach, as I see x-pilot being a hub for high quality awesomeness!

    X-pilot rocks x 2!!

Submit away! We definitely want to approve growth in our community! :)

Wow, great! Now I have to look at two sites for new files :P

Looking forward to new files! Maybe I'll add some files also :)

(hehe I can like my own post  )

    Thanks for the support, brent123!

When I re-do my 8S2 for version 10 I'll gladly up it here, too.

We look forward to it, woweezowee! :)

I am presently working on a couple of airports using the new Lego brick WED1.2b, one in the US and one in the UK, and when I am happy with them I will gladly share these with the other members on here.

    Regards

    Simon

We look forward to checking out your creations, Simon, and thanks for the support!

    Great news ! B)

    Thanks, Max!

  4. As the author of Xsaitekpanels will there be a section for plugins?

    Bill

    Hello, Bill,

As per your request, a new category has been added for Plugins and Utilities!

Any more information on the quality standards? It doesn't seem to be part of the approval process, that's why I ask.

    Hi, Kaphias,

While we encourage all uploaders to do their best, the quality standard will mainly be upheld by the integrity of consistency for information about the files, proper spelling, titles, and overall ease of use for the library. So long as an honest effort is made by an uploader, I would not be concerned with rejection. Simply enjoy! :)

    Thanks to All!

  5. Hello, Pilots!,

X-Pilot is pleased to announce the opening of our new Download File Library! This will serve as a place to upload your creations, including aircrafts, sceneries, and liveries. There are a few features in place to make this work and keep a quality standard upheld, as we want this to be organized and "easy" on our community members.

Firstly, when you upload a file it will be placed into a queue for one of our designated File Library managers to approve. In the approval process, the managers will verify the description, file uploaded, screenshot, and other information provided with the upload. The approval process is expected to be relatively quick after a file has been submitted.

Once a file is submitted and accepted by a library manager, the file will be publicly visible and a topic will be auto-created and linked from the file to a topic in the new File Library forum. This forum may also serve as a place for support for files, as well as an alternative way to seek out files you may be interested in as a downloader in the community.

We will have more to announce soon, but for now we wish you happy uploading and downloading, and would like to thank everyone in the X-Pilot community for their continued support!

  6. The X-Pilot board has unanimously voted to ban user: FakeAustin.

While we seek to be openminded and allow for freedom here, there are lines that sometimes need to be drawn. With the close proximity of X-Plane 10, and the rather blatantly false information provided by this user which could be easily misconstrued by an uninformed user as "truth," we have decided this will not be tolerated.

Should you have any concerns regarding this ban, please don't hesitate to contact any of the admins here.

  7. Captains,

Welcome back to X-Pilot.com! As noted on the new homepage, we have a completely new design, including the branding of X-Pilot itself. This is to put us more in line for the future and where we are headed.

The downtime over the last 24 hours was part of a massive transition. Some of it is viewable now with the new forum design, but also new backend infrastructure was put in place to announce some new features to X-Pilot in the coming months. Needless to say, we anticipate for X-Pilot to become a complimented growth model with the new X-Plane 10 platform coming out. A lot of our new community features will work directly in X-Plane as time goes on, and when the time is right we'll announce such additions.

With the new design here we introduce a variety of new features. They include:

    - A more robust forum system

    - A new chat room to have engaging conversations

    - New social media technology to integrate X-Pilot and X-Plane into our daily conversations with friends

    - News section for not only product releases, but also news around the community. You'll definitely want to keep on eye on this section!

As always, thanks for being a part of X-Pilot. Without you, there is no 'us.' We are the community, and we're proud of it!

    Enjoy!

  8. Captains,

Certain that many of us feel the same in that we all don't like being left in the dark, it's important to share info as to why there was a downtime throughout the last 15 or so hours.

Our primary disk on the server had a major failure causing system files to go corrupt. As such, the server went offline, and we were forced to restore from backups. It is important to note that we keep continuous backups of all our data, and that NOTHING was lost in this. At this time, the site is functioning normally, however, we are transitioning all data to a new server in the same data center. During this transition you may experience some slow loading of pages, however, we don't expect any further downtime while we migrate from one server to the next.

We do apologize for the inconvenience throughout this process, but welcome you back!

  9. Does everyone start out at "0" or have I benn "smitten" already?

    Donald Traill

    Donald,

    Yes, everyone starts at "0".

I just "smited" you 5 times on the same post and took your karma back to -1.

Seems rather open to abuse and therefore a little pointless!

We have now re-coded the Karma system. You are no longer able to continually applaud or smite someone for a particular post. Additionally, a log system is now implemented that will show who has applauded or smited an individual, and anyone who uses the system to abuse or try and take down an individual will receive a suspension or ban depending on the severity of the abuse for the system. This does not mean that an individual should be in fear of their membership here for giving a smite or applaud to someone, however, it will be quite evident when someone is abusing the system. As such, be sure you are only giving an applaud or smite to a post because it is your opinion of the post, and not your distaste or liking of a particular individual. Lastly, you must have a minimum of 5 posts to be able to use the Karma system.

  10. Captains,

We apologize for the downtime over the last 24hrs. Unfortunately, the company that hosts our main servers went out of business without any notification to its customers, leaving many with web servers and important data stranded. X-Pilot is a bit more fortunate than others we have read about regarding this incident, as we keep daily backups of our software in multiple locations. We have purchased new servers, and uploaded backups of the forum system to them. There has been a minimal data loss (about 5-10 posts). It's not entirely possible to backup everything when you run a "live" forum, but we believe it's minimal to the point where not many will notice. The loss of data is literally a matter of a few hours worth of posts.

    Happy posting!

  11. Actually Javier, that right now is my only option. It seems Nicolas didn't want it on the .org, so right now it's offline. Do you have any of your own webspace to upload it to?

You mean Nicolas decided to censor your download and remove it from the community eye? Did he give any kind of reasoning?

I'm sorry to hear about that, Jason. If you'd like to send it to me, I can put it up for you. Send an e-mail to cameron {at} x-aviation.com

This topic has been split. For a continuation of the posts that proceeded the above quotes, please go HERE. If you have comments that pertain to the above livery, please continue posting them in this topic. For all other posts regarding Nicolas or X-Plane.org, please follow the above link to the split topic.

  12. Captains,

We are pleased to announce that we have migrated to a new server successfully today. We apologize if this caused any convenience to you throughout the day while trying to visit this site, however, you should notice a significant increase in speed and response time now with X-Pilot.

    Happy surfing!
