  1. The Yosemite area was covered in the Mammoth screenshot set dated the 16th. I'm sure we'll show more as the time comes.
  2. Enjoy the screenshots that have been posted daily.
  3. Nothing wrong with you playing it safe and voting with your wallet! I'd imagine you're missing out on a lot of good in the end, but it's your money and you can spend it how you wish!
  4. Hi, There!, We'll be releasing this once 10.2 goes final. In the meantime you may use the 32-bit variant of 10.2 with 1.5.2, or you may request a link from us on the X-Aviation contact page for 1.4.5 if 1.5.2 is giving you issues. There's a few topics here about this already. Since you're a new customer, I'll just let you know that all customers receive emails about updates as soon as they are released, as well as how to obtain them.
  5. Grass is unfortunately one of those things that needs to better evolve. We've had this discussion with Laminar a few times when ILM was in development, and in short, in time Laminar hopes to address a better way of going about it. As you've seen, it's sporadic and looks quite bad, and placing it in the manner you/we did is said to be very inefficient performance wise. We're waiting for better future help on our end. Thought you'd like to know the same.
  6. Yes, though it has not been distributed as such at every venue.
  7. I had the same questions back a few months, James. I ultimately ended up with the 680 and cannot say enough good things about it! It runs X-Plane 10 really well!
  8. Yes, you understand it correctly. If you like, I'm sure Javier can clarify further, but he did do this for a reason.
  9. I'm aware of a release candidate released today, but not a final version. More info here: http://developer.x-plane.com/2013/02/10-20-we-have-a-release-candidate/ We'll continue to monitor progress, and most importantly, all customers will receive an e-mail (and a post made here) when the update is actually available.
  10. In past days, but no longer an issue now. This happened ONLY if you had SASL also installed, by the way. See here: http://blog.x-aviation.com/2012/11/gizmo-and-sasl/ You are correct. As you have now noted, the spelling is different, but to further the answer, that website is maintained by Ben Supnik (the now primary programmer of X-Plane). The flight loop is where data is calculated at fractions of a second, constantly looped. This applies to not only flight dynamics, but also custom plug-ins. Code is constantly being looped through since variables may changed based on airspeed, etc. Think of it like an audio recording that plays and loops at a very rapid pace.
  11. Wow. Really fantastic work here! Thanks for sharing!
  12. Was directed at me. We were at a conference in France. I'd never met the guy, but that was his way of saying "hello."
  13. Not sure what you mean. We are in no way distributing Google imagery. I believe you may be referring to TerraMetrics in the image, which is not owned, but licensed by Google. Jumping the gun doesn't work in your favor. If you feel something is amiss please consult those that you feel have their terms violated and we would be happy to clarify and show all licensing with them. Our obligation is not with you. That wasn't sarcasm. I meant it. Why shut it down? So long as you love what you're doing then it shouldn't matter. Competition is healthy (even if this isn't competition), and given the performance of our product I'm in no way concerned. Bringing to light something I felt you may have been unaware of is a better way of putting it.
  14. You said "freeware or payware." This is why you have been linked. Not sure what wave of a hand refers to, but I'd venture to say that freeware often disappears at a rapid rate compared to payware because there's little money stream funding the existence of the product/project. Good luck on it, though! Edit: You've changed your whole post.... The scenery we sell is by no means low res. In fact, one of the biggest comments we get on it is just how clear it really is! As our best selling scenery (by a large margin), I'd venture to guess most of your assessment in how people perceive the scenery is incorrect. Of course, it's all good and well if you feel you have higher standards and can take X-Plane to the next level...just remember that you can't take the sim down with it if you want that to happen. The 3D buildings are easily overlaid on the imagery thanks to the free autogen download that was created for this scenery by Benny. I do look forward to what you have to offer, though. Performance will be the biggest test of time...something we are well known for up to this point. If you can pull all of that detail off without compromising performance you get a standing ovation from me. No idea what you're talking about. All of our imagery is licensed and paid for. You'd be a fool to think we put something on the market that wasn't.
  15. It's been out for some time now: http://www.x-aviation.com/catalog/enhanced-island-oahu-p-67.html
  16. I don't think you're understanding what I said. 3D viewing online vs. demos are really two different things as well. Yes, we do have serial systems, but with that comes further risk for any hacker. They have to first purchase the goods they are after to have a "crack" at it. They would also be subjecting themselves to be known. A demo of any limited measure due to plug-in programming can be hacked if one knew what they were doing or tried hard enough without any fall back or risk on their part. We've also looked at the 3D viewers in the past just as a "cool" feature, but this is also what screenshots are for. I think most people are looking for performance testing when it comes to demos. A 3D viewer cannot accomplish this. In any case (at least from our side), the answer to your proposition is "not now."

    fuel problem

Sounds like you might have a plug-in in your resources/plug-ins folder that shouldn't be there (should be in an aircraft folder) and it's incorrectly drawing fuel. That's my first guess.
  18. Not possible...unless you do some kind of a remote connection to your computer through your iPad, but I can't imagine it would be crazy efficient.
  19. My hand is dipped in many of the projects distributed on X-Aviation (which I own). That is "us." In this instance, it's RealScenery and I. There's a reason both of our logos are on the intro of the video you questioned. Automobile animation is present.
  20. It was a decision made by us for what we felt looked better when flying over the scenery. We extend this out relatively far to the west for consistency. Depending on the area, we made cuts in the scenery for X-Plane's water to show where we felt it should (be it bay, lakes, or rivers). If it looked better as imagery it remained. If it looked better as a cut with X-Plane's water it was changed for that. There is no intention to change this for final release. As one would expect, imagery degrades at lower levels. 50ft is too low to appreciate the scenery. Pattern altitudes, however, are quite good. It's like going into Google Earth as far as you can and then some. Eventually you'll get pixelation if you zoom in too far (though not as ugly in X-Plane by any degree).
  21. So long as you can export a model from Caedium to any of the following programs you can get your model into X-Plane: 1. AC3D 2. Blender 3. 3D Studio Max (payware exporter required) 4. Sketchup (limited...better for scenery since datarefs cannot be assigned here) These are the only supported modelers for the X-Plane object format spec to export from. The datarefs are assigned in the 3D application prior to export, with the animation keyframes attached to the datarefs. Keep in mind that X-Plane will ONLY determine flight model data based on the acf file and its geometry, NOT the 3D application geometry you build. In other words, you have to build the same aircraft twice - once in Plane-Maker, and once for visual effect in 3D software (if you care about visuals). If you're purely after the flight model design you must use Plane-Maker for 3D/flight dynamics. Caedium, AC3D, Blender, etc will not help you out.
  22. Hey, thanks for the wonderful comments! Tons of credit goes to Goran and Theo at Leading Edge Simulations! Hope to see you around for lots of great discussion, and thanks for checking out X-Aviation too!
