  1. It's a Bug with 10.40/41 Installer.exe that manifests with Windows XP. * See Ben's Comments: Installer says Entry point not found http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?showtopic=89546 From: "Ben Supnik" <ben@x-plane.com Sent: Thursday, October 15, 2015 10:10 PM Subject: Re: Bug report: Can't update to XP-10.40/41 on Windows XP Machine Thank you for reporting this!!! This is a bug in the installer - the defect was fixed in X-plane itself but did not make it to the installer. We should have a fix for this sometime next week; as soon as I have a fixed installer I'll send you a copy to test - that will let you update! cheers Ben When X-Plane came out (a while back now) Nov-Dec-2011, LR promised that X-Plane 10 would be compatable (run on) with Windows XP for the Life of X-Plane 10.. But a lot has changed since then: X-Plane gone 64bit, Windows 7, 8/8.1, and now 10 Support for Widows XP just has to take a Back-Seat with where we are Today - it may have gotten just "too hard to do" ! Not sure what the next X-Plane 10 release will be (10.42+), but 10.50 will be a Biggie. Let's cross our fingers and see if LR can keep it's Windows XP Promise in the Future.
  2. Hi 'rugsvea' ! X-Plane 10 is very demanding on Hardware. And you're trying to render pixels across 3 Monitors with a GTX 760 (I use a 760 for X-Plane 9 and am OK at 1680x1050, but for X-Plane 10 I used a 780 Ti and now a Titan X at 2560 x 1600). Your Core i7 4770K is still a Good Chip - but your 760 may be your Limiting Factor (just not enough Oomph !) To confirm this - DAta Output your Frame-rate and check CPU ve GPU Rendering time for a Single Frame of Video. X-Plane 10.30 Release Notes http://www.x-plane.com/?article=x-plane-10-30-release-notes The “frame rate” data output now contains two fields: CPU and GPU. These times show the time the CPU and GPU spent drawing one frame (on average) in milliseconds. This means that not only can you tell whether your framerate is CPU or GPU limited (the larger number is the limiting factor), but you can tell the relative loading of the CPU and GPU, and you can measure improvements in CPU or GPU use even if they are not the dominant factor. Driving X-Plane 10 (even at Min SettIngs) at 5760 x 1080 is gonna need a 970 / 980 /980 Ti / Titan X BOL !
  3. Good Luck to you Gentlemen. Decision Making in Human Factors Mishaps is as interesting an area of accident prevention research as it is a main contributing cause of the accidents themselves. Other than Chasing Puffies for the shear Fun of it - Pilots in General, detest Weather. They want Calm Conditions and Clear and a Million. Poor Commercial Aviation - they have Profits to make and Schedules to Keep: "Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead" And even though they fly magnificently capable machines with the most experience and best training - I do not envy the tough weather related decisions that they are routinely asked to make. For General Aviation - My Guess is that some weather related (bad) decisions might be based on same motivation as the Big Boys: Get-Somewhere-Itus ! Attaching a Couple Slides that offer some Insight into Decision Making and Weather. Please let us know your Finding and Recommendations - Thank You !
  4. Dirty Harry Quote Harry Callahan: "A man's GOT to know his limitations." See attached Screen Shot to start at the Bottom and work your way Up.I understand X-Plane 10.40 Betas have three No-Brainer Default Choices for Pre-Set Rendering Option (choose lowest amount of Fancy Stuff).
  5. Hi 'asheft', The MFG Crosswind Rudder Pedals certainly look like a finely crafted piece of Flight Sim Gear. Just have a couple question if you might: - What is the Physical Interface with the PC: USB 2.0 or USB 3.0 ? - I noticed on the MFG Web Site that there is Software to Download: Downloadshttp://mfg.simundza.com/download.php 04.08.2014. - MFG Software package V1.41 (Click Here to Download) 09.12.2014. - MFG Software package V2.0 (Click Here to Download) Do you need this Software ? Or will X-Plane natively recognize the Rudder Axis Input in it's Flight Control Configuation ? Thank You !BVRIgor4U !

  7. Here's a Peek from La Frenchy Frenchmen: From this Thread: Intel Skylake Update - Got 14nm ?http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?showtopic=83962&page=1 I found this Post: Intel Core i7-6700K, i5-6600K et Z170 : Skylake en testhttp://www.hardware.fr/articles/940-16/cpu-jeux-3d-x-plane-10-f1-2013.html Thank you to France - Wish more Tech Review Sites would Benchmark using X-Plane 10

  10. Hi john82088, I might be too late here - but if you haven't upgraded, please Stand-By ! Do not pay to upgrade from Windows 7 to 8/8.1. X-Plane 10 will not run any quicker on Windows 8. Later this year when Microsoft releases Windows 10, all Windows 7 and Windows 8 Users will get an opportunity (1 year window) to upgrade to Windows 10 for FREE. Windows 10 will be a free upgrade for Windows 7 and Windows 8 usershttp://www.pcworld.com/article/2873214/windows-10-will-be-a-free-upgrade-for-windows-7-and-8-users.html Windows 10 at a Price you can't beat !
