Custom widget using XP userinterface

I want to use some buttons from the default X-Plane userinterface png file via

texUI = gfx.getTexture_UI()

But how can I use a single button instead of the whole file?

Thanks for your answer. Then I have to learn some OpenGL...

Is it binding a texture coordinate to a vertices or something??

Do you have a tip to get a good startingpoint learning opengl?
