David086
Just purchased the new Dash 8 (Q400) and I must say it's a fantastic plane but I'm having issues with the auto pilot.I can't seem to stabilize the speed and altitude together. It's either the speed jumps up when I have the altitude stable or the altitude moves when I have the speed stabilized.Any ideas? I'm new to the aircraft and X-Pilot so go easy on me Edited August 19, 2011 by David086
twinpropflyer
Hi David,I assume, you are climbing with the autopilot, it then levels off at selected altitude and the airspeed starts rising. If it get near the maximum operating speed, the plane starts to climb again.Thats a special function of the default autopilot of X-Plane to avoid overspeed. Since the Dash8 does not have autothrottles, you have to control your speed with the power levers (pull them back). This applies to most of the aircrafts in X-Plane.Happy dashing :-)Jan
David086
Thanks Jan What percentage of thrust should I keep it at to maintain a speed?
Kieran
That will change. You are going to have to work that out for yourself.

The developers of this product have an ongoing topic located here: http://forums.x-pilot.com/index.php?/topic/254-dash-8-q400/page__st__280Your question would be better suited in that topic, as the developers will tend to monitor questions about this product more there.
