Skymaxx Pro 4.8 crash (CTD)

It looks like perhaps something unexpected was in your FSGRW weather data. If you still have the fsgrwsmp.rwx file that was in place when the crash occurred, I'll need it as well in order to figure out what happened.

This sort of thing usually clears itself up once new weather data is downloaded, but we definitely want to figure out what caused this if we can.

Hi, thank for the reply. To be honest I don't want to keep flying a route that I cannot complete.

With a 1080 GPU and 32GB DDR4 ram, I would hope that the issue is not memory related!

I can check to see if I am running HD mesh in that area and possibly ortho, although ortho normally helps with the frames.

Removing custom scenery? Why would that help? Surely I have downloaded the scenery so I get a decent airport etc?

Speak again soon.

OK, I have checked and I do have HD mesh and ortho for that area. The ortho is for the west coast and I came in east, so I guess that cannot be the problem, unless it would load that tile in.

I will fly into LGAV again later today without the mesh and see if that helps.

The concern to me is, its saying in the log that it crashed because of skymaxx pro. Maybe I should take that out and see if the  issue still exists also?

The only thing we know of that can cause SkyMaxx Pro to crash is running out of memory (or something corrupting the memory we use.) So if SkyMaxx Pro is crashing, that's my primary suspect. HD mesh consumes a LOT of memory, and you could be running low even on a 32GB system.

OK, tested with Ortho and HD mesh included.

If I take skymaxx pro out of the equation, then I have no issues at all. My GPU at most hit 6.4GB out of 8GB and my system ram never went over 16GB out of 32GB.

My CPU did get quite warm at times though!

Maybe it has something to do with the draw distance in your software!. I am not saying SMP is at fault but when removed, everything worked ok :)

Hope to hear back from you soon

Did you mean you tested with Ortho and HD mesh disabled, and it still crashed? My point is you need to reduce your overall memory usage somehow, and that should help. 6.4GB actually doesn't leave much left over; problems will start to arise before you actually hit 8GB.

It is true that the larger the cloud draw area setting you have in SMP, the more memory it will consume as well.
