XPlane 737 CTD

Hi Guys, so I finally saved up & purchased the IXEG 737, been waiting for a while now. So when I first loaded (first flight) the IXEG all was working perfectly took her out for a spin :D and just did a nice circuit about 15 mins worth, however I decided to do a full flight to Nice from Manchester, so I loaded up did all my preflight bits and taxied to the runway, however after taking off I got the dreaded window "X-Plane 10 Has Stopped Working" after it closed automatically I pulled the crash report:

So I did a good research and found that some other people had the same issue, which was either caused by the "draw vortices" option or the Xenviro plugin, but I don't have Xenviro.

I disabled all plugins just to be safe apart from Gizmo & Plugin admin.

So I went back into the sim and disabled the "draw vortices" option and restarted.

I re-did all my pre-flight checks again got to the take-off roll & at about 300ft the same thing happened again. 

Persevering I tried again but this time even worse, since I got my new rig about 8 months ago I've never had this I got the blue screen of death :o

According to event viewer, all it says is Critical - Kernal Power :(

Now I'm new to X-Plane, I only purchased it for the IXEG I'm usually a P3D guy, hopefully, someone will be able to shed some light on this.

Here's some more info:

X-Plane 10 V10.51 / Running as Admin (always) / Windows 10 64 Bit / Intel i7-6700k Skylake 4.00 GHz Quad Core / Nvidia GTX 1060 6GB / No Overclocking

This might be an X-plane issue, however, it doesn't seem to happen if I fly around GA from the same airport.

Hi Harry,

this sounds like it is a problem with your computer/windows installation/x-plane. The 737 might aggravate it (as it uses a lot of VRAM for texture storage), but I don´t think there is something that we can do about it.

If you see a gizmo-window pop-up with a red error message then that is on us - but actual window crashes are beyond our control (except for some incompatibility with other plugins, but you disabled them already to rule that out)...

When it happens the next time, please make sure to attach your LOG.TXT file from the main X-Plane folder to this post, so we can take a look at what is going on around the hood...

Hi Jan, thanks for your reply, So today i did a complete removal of X-plane 10 and a clean re-install, i departed as normal it held for around a minute longer than usual so reached 10,000 ft, then both my screens went blank and 3 seconds later they came back on with the usual  "x-plane has stopped working". I'm pretty sure now it must be some sort of graphics error here but always seems to be in the IXEG but like you advised Jan its a lot more detailed (looks amazing).Here is the log file & the Windows error log:

I am quite sure your crashes are related to one or more of the lua scripts you have running that messes with the aircraft datarefs.

 

For the purpose of testing:

1. Remove absolutely all files from the lua /scripts/ folder located in /xplane 10/resourses/plugins/flywithlua/scripts/  and backup them outside to any temp folder of your liking

2. Launch xplane and test if you still have crashes.

 

If you still have crashes please do not copy/paste the log, attach the file to the post via the choose files link provided while editing the post.

Afternoon mmerelles, thank you for your reply, so i just removed all the plugins apart from gizmo & plugin admin replicated the same departure got to around 12000ft and crash again here are the logs i think I'm going to have to use the process of elimination.

Hmm, another hint would be to try at a different airport - we have had crashes related to some custom airports...especially this part seems suspicious:

Hi Jan thanks for your reply i haven't got that part of the world in X-plane installed, Will download, but for test purposes can i choose somewhere for examplele Scotland where there is no custom scenery and see what happens?

Just to let you know i also set my rendering to minimum & changed TDR delay and still a crash :/

This has really started to make me scratch my head will report back shortly.

Hi Harry,

I can see from the log you posted that EGCC Manchester is still getting loaded - so you are just confirming the confirmed ;-)

Sure, you can try in any part of the world (and you don´t need to have scenery installed for that - the airports will be in the water, but that is fine) - just need to be at least 200NM away from EGCC (so that tile is not loaded).

OR you can remove EGCC (just move the folder containing it away from your Custom Scenery folder to somewhere else)...and see if that helps. But I would prefer the test without much scenery loaded, as it will also reduce load on your rendering pipeline (which seems to get clogged for some odd reason)...

Hi Harry,

Hmm, I am at the ends of my wits...especially since your case is so isolated and we haven´t heard from anyone else with similiar symptoms.

I can only suggest to make sure that your system and drivers are up-to-date (Nvidia drivers), to avoid overclocking, check for sufficient cooling of both CPU and GPU, reduce rendering load by cutting back on texture resolution (although this should not be a problem with your kind of hardware) and also file a bug report with Laminar Research, providing all log files and windows error messages in your report.

Laminar is usually very good and eager on following up on hard crashes - although I am not sure how much support they still put into XP10.

Have you tried in XP11 (just to see if it works)? You can download the demo for XP11, copy the folder with the IXEG 737, the gizmo plugin and the "X-Aviation" folder into XP11 (demo) - just make sure that you don´t mess up the folder structure, they all need to go back into their respective places. This does not count towards your "activations".

Hi Jan, thank you for your reply I'm at my wits end too :( I really wanted to fly the IXEG I worked on the-300 & -500's for 3 years, I did try the IXEG in XP11 but I used the installer but it just started sliding everywhere :o if I copy the gizmo plugin will it not slide in XP11 ? as it didn't crash in XP11. I also have messaged Laminar and waiting for a response.

So far this is what ive  done in XP10 so far and no joy: 

1 - Disable Plugins (Unsuccessful)
2 - Increased TDR Delay & set graphics to Minimum (Unsuccessful)
3 - Try where there is no custom scenery (unsuccessful)
4 - Run in 32 Bit Mode (IXEG Won't run in 32bit)
5 - Run with weather at clear & day (Unsuccessful)
6 - Disable Second Monitor  (Unsuccessful)
7- Rolled 376.53 Back Drivers to 378.92 (Unsuccessful)
8 - Changed OpenGL to use integrated graphics GPU (unsuccessful)

This should be very frustrating and disappointing your system specs are quite good actually.

 

Your xplane log.txt looks clean i do not identify any issues related to XP or the IXEG. I am curious about the:

Nvidia
A TDR has been detected.
The application must close

Have you tried to get in touch to nvidia to tell them lowering rendering and increasing TDR does not fix the issue? maybe there is a driver bug they do not know yet for the 1060? Maybe they can provide you a beta or testing driver?

 

Have you tried disabling TDR entirely to see what happens? here there is a how to.

Harry: 

In order to use the IXEG in XP11 you will have to perform some fixes using the PlaneMaker.exe (I think that's what its called) that comes with XP. 
The fixes are related APU not starting and asymetric Engine thrust. 
I am in a hurry right now, so I can't explain in detail. Please try searching this forum. The fixes I am talking about are described in detail there. If you can't make that work, I am willing to provide detailed info later that day.

Hi Jan, Hi part time Pilot, So i reformatted my X-Plane 11 and added the x plane 10 Gismo and installed IXEG 737 And OMG ITS WORKING :o  :o Im so Happy, this plane is off the hook its just simply amazing thank you so many guys !!!! When you hit TOGA though :o Amazing work from IXEG. Please do send those tweaks and ill be back in the sky :D Ecstatic right now!

I am not if you still need help with the tweaks. If the aircraft is flyable for you, you better not change anything.
