IRS alignes in ATT mode, even if not flying straight and level

Yesterday i saw one episode of Mayday, where the crew lost orientation in a 737-400.
They switched the IRS to ATT, but forgot to hold the plane straight and level. So the IRS never aligned, and the main instruments kept blank.

So i thought, i try that in the IXEG.
I switched IRS to ATT while climbing and turing to the right with 30 degree bank angle.
But instruments came back after some seconds and IRS was aligned.

The checklist says, i have to maintain the plane straight and level for around 30 seconds.
Would be great, if this will be checked when trying to align the IRS in flight, so that i can also loose orientation :-)
