I disagree here. You can not compare.

Vatsim is for entertainment, yes you may be lucky time to time and find a professional real life controller for hobby or practicing, but vatsim target and spirit is a lot different. Also the procedural level of members difference is huge.

pe was meant for people willing to learn by the book, professional atc service. While procedural level of people will vary (new entering people), they are all forced to learn and perform by the book. They threat you as if lives were in risk for your mistakes. As you have seen on the videos above (i hope) things happen as in pe.

I would agree in the end, not everybody may be happy with the level of exigence/pressure PE imposes. It is a fair everyone calls to sign up or not.

That's completely irrelevant. It's not like lives are at risk if you make a long landing or if you ask for assistance navigating, they just wanted an excuse to be rude. The existence of a few rude controllers in real life does not justify a lack of professional conduct on the part of PE controllers.

You can talk about PE being for "professional" use and VATSIM being for "entertainment" use but the only real difference is PE's guaranteed coverage and the frequency switching.

Well, it is noticeable that you will rarely hear anything rude from a controller here in Europe or anywhere where the airlines are paying for the ATC service directly and per flight. Testy in more stressful situations (when they have to call someone 5 times because they aren´t listening properly), but never downright rude. The U.S., where ATC is paid by for the goverment is a whole different story. Efficient,yes. Likeable, mostly - but dare to ask the JFK approach controller to repeat his clearance :lol:

Now if you employ a "real" controller to work on a service like PilotEdge, I would think it a testimony to the realism of the whole setup if the guy forgets that its "just a game" and takes it all seriously enough to fall back into old habits when dealing with non-compliant aircraft. Nice? Maybe not. Realistic? Definitely.

Don´t forget that part of the whole ATC experience is also the pressure to not mess up, play along and to not be the clog in the wheel of a nicely humming EGLL approach flow...

ATC in Europe also sounds a lot less stressed out when compared to their American equivalents - American controllers speak extremely quickly whereas Europeans are a lot calmer and more laid-back in their delivery, even in emergency situations.
